UPDATED - Oberland Traverse

Following the landslide in Blatten (Bernese Oberland) last May, we came up with a brand new 'Oberland Traverse' itinerary for a private trip that we ran in June. It worked very well, so have now updated our scheduled Oberland Traverse trip.

The week commences at our hotel in Grindelwald on Saturday evening, in order to check gear and arrange equipment hire. On Sunday morning we climb the SW ridge of the Scharzwhorn (2,928m) by a Via Ferrata before returning to Grindelwald for the night. The following morning we take the Jungfraujoch mountain railway and walk to the Monchjoch hut at 3,656m. Over the next two days we head into the heart of the range, following glaciers and spending nights at the Konkordia Hut (2,850m) and Finsteraarhorn hut (3,048m). From here, you descend rejoining the Fieschergletscher, before heading east and over the Oberraarjoch 3,205m via the Galmigletscher to the Oberaarjoch hut (3,258) before exiting the mountains the following day at the Grimsel Pass.
