Karakoram 2024 Climbing and Trekking

In summer 2023 we ran successful expeditions and treks to Gasherbrum II, Spantik, Rush Peak and K2 Base Camp (two separate treks). Both the Gasherbrum II and Spantik teams experienced some poor weather, but they were able to work around it and had good conditions when it mattered. Flights from Islamabad to Skardu were reliable, with none of our groups delayed or forced to travel by road. This is the second summer running where none of our teams had their flights delayed. The Spantik group was surprised to find very few other climbers on the SE Ridge.

Looking ahead to summer 2024, we are offering mountaineering expeditions to Spantik and Khosar Gang, as well as our new 'Karakoram Climber' itinerary. We have two treks to K2 Base Camp and a Rush Peak and Hunza Valley trek. If you are looking to travel during the summer months, when the Nepal Himalaya is 'closed' due to monsoon rains, then you might consider visiting the spectacular Karakoram.

Khosar Kang
After a successful expedition in 2022 we're returning to this 6000m peak reached in one day from Skardu. Now scheduled in June, when we expect there to be more snow on the mountain and therefore less icy on the upper slopes, this attractive peak is climbed in classic expedition style, utilising two camps above the pleasant grassy base camp. Khosar Gang is one of the few 6000m peaks in either the Himalaya or Karakoram that can be realistically climbed in 2-weeks. 2024 leader: David Hamilton.

Spantik
In July we'll return to Spantik for the 7th time. David Hamilton is leading another team, supported by the same experienced crew of local staff who have worked on previous Jagged Globe expeditions. Spantik is the most climbable 7000m peak in the Karakoram, with a beautiful 3-day walk to a grassy base camp below the SE Ridge.

Karakoram Climber
New for 2024 is this fast-paced expedition which visits two very different areas and two rarely climbed 5000m peaks. David Hamilton and Mohammad Sharif completed a reconnaissance of this trip in August this year.

K2 Base Camp Treks
The trek to K2 Base Camp remains one of the most classic mountain treks on the planet. We are using our experience from the past two seasons to refine our services for 2024. This includes buying new The North Face tents for next summer's trekking groups.

Rush Peak and Hunza Valley
We completed this superb trek for a second time in 2023. The photos speak for themselves - quiet trekking amongst enormous snowy peaks, precipitous rock spires, snaking glaciers and flower-filled meadows.
