UPDATE: Spantik summits!
Our Spantik team are back in Camp 3 having summited this morning (19 July). Summits for David, Augustin and Edi with HAPs Shabir and Hussein. Jamie and Leonie summited with HAP Asharaf. John and Yuri turned back with HAPs Basharat and Mhadi. They will descend to base camp tomorrow.
UPDATE 21 JULY.
The team are back in base camp. David reports that climbing conditions on Wednesday were clear but there was unexpected high winds making the climb feel cold despite moderate temperatures. This was the first Spantik summit since a ski ascent in June. The Jagged Globe team marked the trail from base camp, estiablished camps 1, 2 and 3 and fixed 1000m of rope between C2 and C3, breaking the trail to the summit. This was leader, David Hamilton's 5th expedition to Spantik and his 3rd summit. A full report with photos will follow in a few days time when the team reach Skardu.
This is our 6th Spantik expedition (2000, 2005, 2006, 2019, 2022, 2023).
