Cho Oyu 2000

Written by Leader Robert Anderson, December 2000

Summiters: Robert Anderson, Richard Lechleitner, Alex Villarreal and Sirdar, Ang Temba. The four summitted on 19 May, climbing from Camp II at 7100 meters all the way to the summit. A long day (14 hours) but mostly good weather and great views from the top of Cho Oyu across to Everest. Other team members made it to 7,800m and 7000m on an earlier forays up the mountain. Unfortunately, the monsoon moved in and a few feet of snow precluded them from reaching the summit, which they could have done with a little more luck from the weather. *This is Jagged Globe's 6th successful Cho Oyu expedition. **Robert Anderson will return to Everest once again in 2001 as the leader of Jagged Globe's 7th Everest expedition. « Previous report | »
