Trip Reports

Khosar Gang

Written by Team Member Ronald Rutland, August 2022

SUMMIT DAY. The alarm sounded just before 1am and I awoke to Paul my tent partner already awake and crunching into his breakfast cereal bar. Camp 2 at 5,200m. We were soon on the move leaving camp 2 at 2am despite an early morning shower of sleet reminding us that the weather was not perfect. David Hamilton, Jagged Globe leader was out in front as we scrambled up some loose rock to the start of the fixed lines. The snow had melted leaving a slope of ice which led to the first ridge. All the team were moving well as we progressed up the initial slopes and soon the first light of dawn was visible. We continued to climb into the cloud covered slopes of Khosar Gang eventually reaching a bergshrund presenting a short steep section demanding some front pointing. The cloud began to clear as we reached the final slopes only to shroud around us on the summit! No view but we had made it arriving as a team at 8am. Six hours of effort and the summit was ours. Now, all we had to do was get down. A well organised expedition with a safe and satisfying outcome. Thank you Jagged Globe.
