Mera Peak - 5 October to 25 October 2002

Written by Leader, November 2002

A successful and very enjoyable expedition. We had a wonderful group and a great team spirit amongst us. Although it was a damp and cloudy start to the expedition, with the walk-in in monsoon type weather, it soon gave way to bright sunny days with spectacular mountain views.

The whole team reached high camp on Mera Peak (5,800m). On summit day, 10 team members set off with myself and our Sherpas, one climber reached 6,300m before turning back, with the rest making the top in near perfect conditions. A large crevasse bars the way to the last 30m of the summit.
