An expedition to the fourth highest mountain in the world
Introduction
Lhotse is the world's 4th highest mountain and is located next to Everest. Both climbs share the same camps until 7,300m on the 'Lhotse Face'. From here you continue up the face and make a long gently rising traverse to the feature known as the 'Yellow Band'. Above the Yellow Band Everest climbers continue their traverse to the Geneva Spur, whereas you strike off to the right towards a rocky outcrop nicknamed the 'turtle shell'. Rock shelves at 7,900m provide small platforms where tents can be placed and Lhotse Camp 4 is established. Leaving Camp 4 you enter the narrow and steep Lhotse Couloir. This icy gully is the key to reaching the summit by the normal route is climbed for 500m until the ridge is reached. Once on the knife edge ridge, a left turn and some tricky scrambling leads to the summit.Join us on Lhotse
- A tough and serious climb for experienced mountaineers.
